I discovered Robert D. Kaplan Balkan Ghosts. And it was one of those random discoveries came not by influence, and are probably the best taste left. Shortly after I read a couple more books-good-being volumes although none reached the interest and quality first. And so I stayed until the gods put me in front Mediterranean Winter. This is not intended to be a conventional review: It is a slimy and rendered praise. Because what Kaplan does in the book is in simple principle: several evoking youthful travels through the central and eastern Mediterranean, accompanied by someone who is a diffuse and shifting shadow on the story, it just has a presence. But it does wonderfully blending scholarship and personal memories, reverence for the past and emotions and reflections that would move any budding poet. Now is a prestigious international policy analyst, a member of more than one cabinet influential advisers, but Kaplan was then a young American of modest family full of dreams and projects and fascinated by history, traveling in winter with little means, out of season, "(...) in a period of awnings rolled, half-empty hotels and archaeological remains somewhat neglected lonely (...), making doorchimesuk the story a continuous back and forth between the lyrical and the best recreation and finding of the past, and in which the protagonists are Rodin, Flaubert, doorchimesuk Carthage, Marseille, Tunisia, Dido and Aeneas, Virgil, Jugurtha, Augustine, Paul Klee, Kairouan, Roger de Lauria, Rome, Sicily, Tucídices, Siracusa, Palermo Alcibiades, the Normans transplanted south, Agrigento, Caravaggio, Villa Adriana (Hadrian and large, of course), Split, Dubrovnik, Diocletian, Athens, Byzantium, Lawrence Durrell, doorchimesuk Mount Athos, Robert Byron, Mistra ... Just a Sample: "That afternoon we allow waste to take a carriage ride for three dinars. From the cemetery we took the train north and descended on the village of Sidi Bou Said, where eight dinars spent the night in an old manor house. doorchimesuk That was the only night in the winter we enjoy central doorchimesuk heating. At sunset we climbed the stairs leading to Café des Sidi Bou Saïd Nattes for tea with pine nuts. The ceiling of our room was decorated with colorful glasses and blue tiles. Outside in the garden, I found pink oleanders, orange trees, hibiscus, bougainvillea and a solitary cypress monumental doorchimesuk the next morning. I remember walking the light of a cat while a man came with a broom to sweep the fallen petals. "I bought and read Winter Mediterranean in the summer of 2004, and since then took it as a very nice routine-you know how much I enjoy rereading few- every summer. while I like or do not read anymore or reread very often, so as not to let the disappointment place that time well, life-like about arrearnos occasionally. now just finish again.

Oxford was basically a few problems: it rained (a lot), it was cold, it was wind, I came the rule I broke the camera pictures on camera without nated before and we closed the college Harry Potter ... etc. Luckily the city was beautiful: _)
Most colleges if they want to visit, you have to pay. The most beautiful and expensive the King's College (I entered). I only paid for the St.John because it was 1.20 pounds and looks, not m'arruinaré step lol
The Queen's College is a bridge called the "Mathematical Bridge" q built it in 1749 without using nails or turnillus (although as time passes is born, if you have been). I put the picture so small you an idea.
And nothing! bamboo earings I've been sick for a walk. I bought a map by 12:50 Pundit and the truth was more artistic than practical (dubuixets was with) was just the center and at one point, walking bamboo earings aimlessly bamboo earings I found one in a place without tourists ... and a man told me that we were out of the map '

Last weekend we had the opportunity to Kings made a trip to London on the pretext of going to visit a friend who is studying Japanese for a year in England. This time it was the fourth time visiting the city, so I already knew many of the tourist attractions in London and I used to do different underdome things, like, for example, how to make an Afternoon Tea. The Afternoon Tea is a meal that takes between 14 and 17 hours and is accompanied by tea sandwiches, scones underdome with Clotted cream and jam, cakes and other pastries. We sanvitxos we ate ham, cucumber, tuna, egg and salmon, and we chose the vanilla cake with chocolate and carrot. They were delicious! The tea that I took was black Yunnan (China). She was very well prepared, and that the tea shop where we went, Orange Pekoe, has a certificate of excellence from the Tea Guild, an organization created by the UK Tea Council ensures best quality tea establishments that serve . Full Afternoon Tea One of the small rooms of Orange Pekoe Between visits we have made to the city is Westminster Abbey. Still do not understand how there had been before, because underdome I love the English Gothic underdome cloisters in general, and there's no incentive to see the Poets' Corner where buried underdome Geoffrey Chaucer (author of Tales Canterbury) and memorials to Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Lord Byron and Alfred Lord Tennyson, among others, which should be must for anyone who has studied English Philology like me! The small cloister of Westminster Abbey We also went to Holland Park, within which there is a Japanese garden with a koi pond and stone lanterns. The park is located in the Notting Hill is really nice, although not shine much in winter. Japanese Garden in Holland Park A tsukubai! Another place I have discovered is Spitalfields Market, on recommendation underdome of my friend Elizabeth. In the market you can find stalls selling clothes, books and food, as well as shops and cafes perimeter of the enclosure. It is a charming place! Stalls inside Spitalfields pastries and cakes Stores perimeter Market Regarding museums, only this time we get to make the nose at the Tate Modern on Saturday evening, making this museum was open until 10. On the top floor of the museum there is a café-restaurant where there is a beautiful view of the Thames underdome and St. Paul's Cathedral. Finally we also useful to look stores. We went to Regent underdome Street where there are stores Whittard of Chelsea (each trip to London I can not go there). This time, however, I went to another store classic teas in London, Twinning, where do tea tasting sessions. We also walk to Oxford Street, where there were still Christmas lights, and the Soho. In the area of Portobello, we went to a store Rough Trade, the label of one of my favorite British bands (the Smiths and Belle and Sebastian). Plate XL Records headquarters in Ladbroke Grove (Portobello) has been short-sighted in London, but intense, a bit different and quite good time!

The walk along the banks of the Thames, between Parliament and Tower Bridge is quite long but well

"A thin layer of clouds that are lost in the horizon, a white blanket covering the earth and the space where spent everyday people and orange portends the end of next day . Flying over Europe, we're back ... "
Houses of Parliament on the banks of the Thames, the capital of the empire, Her Majesty the Queen or simply Peter Pan; the House of Lords, the charm of the Thames or Camden chaotic and cool. What city are you looking? What do you hope to find? Since London is synonymous with history, culture, tradition and aristocracy. But trends transgressive and alternative onpow culture of multiculturalism. London A to each person and hundreds of places to surprise, excite you and you drop. Are you ready?
I come out of the tube (a word used by Londoners to refer the subway) to the stop Westminster and mentally begin to travel through time, visiting all the movies, books and historical events that have taken everything now surrounds me like scene. In the foreground I'm majestic with the famous Big Ben and the British Parliament (the second in the world after the Catalan) and when you turn around the head, Westminster Abbey stands on the streets of the English capital along with shining waters of the Thames touched by sunlight, further elevate this whole category picture of old Royal London.
The walk along the banks of the Thames, between Parliament and Tower Bridge is quite long but well worth the visit all that untamed river provides a large European city where the relics and the legacy of a colonial past can be seen intense colossal in its architecture and shows the great economic power and that it took the country. As can also be seen in the great cathedral of St. Paul's, where the luxury Harrods store shopping. onpow
Although the essence of the British capital lies in its years of dominance of all the seas and oceans, London is also known for famous and forgotten, if indeed it can, imperialism of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries onpow and generate transgressive and alternative movements. If the great mix of people and cultures as is evident just walking more tourist center of the city, a visit to Soho, Brixton market or Camden and especially its busy market means that visitors can feel the many versions onpow of the city. Streets that climb stairs and walk around balconies and terraces, canals and small boats bohemian replaced, second hand clothes stalls, food everywhere, goods for smoking herbal cosmetic flying ... And for all tastes and colors. You have entered Camden Town.
London is great, is full of historic buildings and stately, has a countless number of districts and there are always onpow people everywhere. But it is precisely this magnitude, making it possible to find everything. Possibly a weekend is not enough time to see the most significant but quiet that you have to have the excuse to return.
